2001 Hoenselaars Vineyard Estate Syrah Price: $30 Our first ever estate Syrah comes from the new Hoenselaars (Hoon-se-larz) Vineyard, which is named after Dutch owner Marijke Byck-Hoenselaars. This small, very unique vineyard is situated on the steep, rocky, hillside overlooking Lake Somapecare. The owner, winemaker, and vineyard manager meticulously looked after these grapes. Hand picked in the early morning, the grapes were gentle pressed and put in open top tanks. We then submerged the cap, cool fermented the juice, and aged it in French oak for 10 months. Complex and well balanced this wine has aromas and flavors of ripe berries and black plums coupled with sweet creamy vanilla spice and oak lead to a fantastic finish
