2015 Estate Chardonnay, Nagasawa Vineyard, Russian River Valley
All of our Estate Vineyards are organically farmed, and influenced by the ‘Bio dynamic’ philosophy of caring for ‘our earth’. This small block of Chardonnay is grown in a combination of alluvial and volcanic well drained soils at 600 feet above sea level in a hanging valley on the eastern fringes of the Russian River Valley.
This site is heavily influenced by both the cooling onshore winds from the Pacific Ocean and the early morning fog pattern driven from the south through the Petaluma Gap
The Wente Clone is unique and special because of its particular character to produce bunches of varying sizes, and within those bunches, berries of differing dimensions ranging from marbles to bb’s, and affectionately known as ‘chicks and hens’; and with each new vintage this whole pattern will vary.
It has clean fresh fruit and restrained use of oak and minimal malo-lactic, with nuances of lemon, fresh herbs & delicate white flowers.
Only 300 cases produced.
